Laia Alejandre LLopart
Biography
Hi! I’m Laia, I was born in Vilanova i la Geltrú, a coastal city near Barcelona. I speak Catalan, Spanish, and English.
In 2024, I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Acting from the Institute of the Arts Barcelona in Sitges. My training encompassed theatre and screen acting, movement and physical theatre, contemporary dance, ballroom dancing, stage combat, singing, and dramaturgy. During my studies, I had the privilege of working with renowned professionals such as Harry Burton, Jordi Casado i Oliva, Drew Mulligan, Silvia Casado, and Cristian Izzo.
However, this wasn’t my first contact with the arts. I’ve been dancing since the age of four at Teresa Carulla Dance School, where I learned styles such as commercial, hip hop, funk, and Latin dances, among others. I also participated in El Planter in EÒLIA for two years and attended several workshops with the acclaimed casting director Lucy Lenox.
Over the past five years, I’ve developed a deep interest in the concept of creativity, especially the relationship between personal identity and its artistic expression and impulses. Alongside my passion for innovation and exploring new ideas, I began writing and directing short films, as well as other personal projects. This gave me the opportunity to take a directing internship at MASIA REELS and GENTILEZA, where I took on the roles of director and acting coach. These experiences have allowed me to expand my skills in production, audiovisual project management, and the understanding of the creative process.
For my final degree project, I created a short film festival called «AGWA!», an event that celebrates not perfection but love for art, creativity, and growth. I continue to develop this showing with the goal of expanding it beyond the university context, as encouraged by my tutor and academic, Armando Rotondi.
I’ve had the pleasure of portraying iconic and challenging characters in theatrical productions such as The House of Bernarda Alba, Medea, Attempts on Her Life, and The Room, exploring different stage techniques and delving into the complexity of layered characters.
As an actress, I bring sensitivity to the text, technical skill, and a strong stage presence—qualities that my directors and colleagues deeply value. My focus is to always maintain a professional, versatile, and creative attitude, committed to change and exploration. My goal is to keep evolving and to collaborate on projects that celebrate the authenticity and diversity of the human experience.
